ECMA Assistance Required

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 7:54pm
Hey

I am relatively new to Novell UserApp, and i am starting to get my hands dirty with UA3.6, with the hope of setting up Workflows that i can then migrate onto UA3.7.

I have got my way through the standard Novell documentation on Workflows, however I have not found any real examples that I can follow to assist with building a workflow.

Essentially what I am hoping for in the end, is to turn out with a workflow that is a Single Approval (manager approval) and Timeout Denied. The end results that i would like are an entitlement and a group provisioned to a user.

I have already got as far as creating the form for the Workflow, however, I am struggling to find examples of ECMA that work

Any assistance would be great.

Cheers

David

SLES 10 SP2 to SLES 11?

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 7:10pm
Question...

I'm preparing to upgrade SLES 10 SP2, and would like to go up to SLES 11. Can I upgrade, or do I have to reinstall? If I can upgrade, do I have to upgrade to SLES 10 SP3, or can I upgrade straight to SLES 11?

My internet connection is a bit flaky, so am I to assume that any upgrade involves downloading the full ISO images and installing that way? If so, do I boot off the DVD and do the upgrade, or do I boot the system and run the update via YaST?

Any thoughts?

OutOfMemoryError when migrating a large group

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 6:49pm
Hi,

I have a very large group which contains about twenty thousand users. Migrating to edir has no problem because I add "Group Membership" to each User object. But got following error when migrating to AD server:

DirXML Log Event -------------------
Driver: \IM3-TEST\uoa\srv\IDM Drivers\Active Directory
Channel: Subscriber
Status: Error
Message: Code(-9083) Error submitting event to subscriber: Code(-9010) An exception occurred: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

I know "memberOf" attribute of User object on AD is readonly. So I synchronize the "Member" attribute when I migrate the group object. But my group has too many members so caused above error and part of the trace log became garbage characters. Does anyone knows how to fix this problem?

Thanks,
Jes

XEN Kernel update stops ocfs2 working

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 5:12pm
Hello,

I have just built 2 SLES 11 servers and used the HAE pack with drbd to set up a 2-node cluster as a basis for running XEN VMs. I have done this before now with SLES 11 with no issues.

When I do an online update, and want to use ocfs2, I get a message telling me that the kernel update does not support ocfs2. I can either choose to re-instate a previous version of the XEN kernel, not install ocfs2, or ignore the warning.

Is this how it should be? Having HAE (And consequently, ocfs2, as included in the HAE pack) and XEN VM's in a cluster would be a normal possible setup I would think? This certainly worked before this latest XEN kernel update.

Anyone tried this setup with the latest version of the SLES 11 XEN kernel?

Remote Control , Remote Login

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 4:50pm
Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to take Remote Control of a workstation while no one is logged in. Can I then login using an account? This would be useful in cases where a user is having issues which we believe are related to his/her profile. We could then login on their workstation with a test account, etc.

We can do it with Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection on some workstations which we have configured. The services for RDC are disabled on the great majority of our desktop and we wish to keep it that way. It would be great if Remote Management could do this.

Please let me know,
Thank you.

Registry file Import?

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 4:29pm
I must be blind but can anyone please tell me if Novell App V can import registry files exported from regedit?

I just cannot seem to find anything in the doco or the forums that explains howto do this.

Running out of Threads

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 3:37pm
Were running GW7.03hp4 and all of out POA's and web agents are running out of threads. I've increased the threads on the web agents to 45. Some of the POA's are having to be restarted because once they reach 99 busy items it no longer responds. GW7 is running on NWSP6 AND THE WEB AGENTS ARE ON SUSE 10 sp2.

Protecting path-based proxy services

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 3:35pm
It seems if you do path-based multi-homing, that those proxy services inherit the authorization of the parent?

So I am assuming that if I wish to protect a specific path, I defined that resource on the parent?

Edir Update Questions

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 3:20pm
I manage network with Netware 5.1, 6.5 sp6 servers and Edir 8.7.3.9. Management wants to upgrade our some of our GroupWise servers to version 8.

GroupWise requires the NW6.5 sp8. Installing a support pack is straight foreword. I want to be sure I plan the DS upgrades details correctly. As I remember; you upgrade the root of tree to the first, then upgrade each partition master. Lastly each replica holder. Am I right?

But what about Netware 5.1? What is the highest Edir version it can hold? I am stuck with NW5.1 for awhile and a those servers have replicas.

Novell client install reboot option

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 2:57pm
I run the setupnw.exe with the unattended.txt and it installs the Novell client with the settings that I want. However, at the end of the install, I get the window prompting me if I want to reboot the computer. Is there an option to disable this prompt and don't reboot. I want to automate the process.

Thanks in advance.

Client 6.5.6 Update 1 on 6.5.4 POA

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 2:49pm
Yikes!

I made the mistake of installing the 6.5.6 Update 1 client to use against a 6.5.4 Post Office. As a result, I cannot log in to the Post Office on that machine.

The machine in question is a Dell PowerEdge SC1420 server that is destined to become a Blackberry Enterprise Server. The server O/S is Windows Server 2003. The GroupWise Post Office runs on a HP ProLiant ML350 with server O/S NetWare 6.5.

I've uninstalled the client and Windows Messaging. However, the C:\ Drive icon has taken on the appearance of the stylistic GroupWise Globe Icon!
Strange indeed!

Is there some way I can redeem myself -- short of scrapping the whole server and starting from scratch?

Thanks for any assistance offered.

Working with NCP Communications and their NCP Secure Entry Client, we were able to create a setup that worked to BM3.9 VPN. At the moment, I am trying to submit this to the cool solutions site. A small problem with attaching pics is keeping this from happeneing. In the mean time, if you are interested in this info, send an email to shesser at arandpartners dot com. I will send the doc of the setup.

Novell Logon not automatic in Windows 7 boot

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 1:57pm
I am trying to get my Novell Client 2 to automatically show the logon screen in the Windows 7 boot up.

Windows 7 just boots right past the typical Novell logon dialog and the only way to log onto the network is to go to the red N, right click and logon. In XP, the Novell logon paused the boot process, I entered my network and windows passwords (sync'd) and then Windows finished booting.

I have the NWTray 'active' in the Windows Startup Config and have "on" selected in "Advanced Login > Novell Logon" option.

How can I add the logon dialog box to show prior to Windows 7 loading, so my network drives are then automatically re-mapped when Windows is finished loading? What am I missing?

Phased migration from NW 6.5 to OES2

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 1:51pm
Am planning on doing a phased migration of a server running NW 6.5 SP7 to OES2 Linux. Current server is running Groupwise 7, Zenworks 7, eDir 8.7.3.9 and also holds the master replica (they have another server in same tree located in another office).

Here's what I am planning to do, but just want to make sure all OK - suggestions welcome:

- Have new Dell server and will create 2 logical partitions - one for SLES system stuff (about 60gb) and the other for NSS (about 1.5tb). RAID5

- Will partition /boot, /, /swap, /opt, etc.

- Install SLES 10, OES (during main install) and place new server in current tree.

- I'd like to migrate certain folders (users, share, etc.) in phases, keeping user rights once moved. As I do this, I would change the login script mapping to point to new server.

- Once regular user data over, migrate Groupwise.

- Install Zen Config Mgr from scratch, as they currently don't use it for much. But they will once installed/set up.

- Install Teaming

- Decommission NW 6.5 server

- I still want users to get same mappings as they currently have. Basically want to switch them to new server without any real disruptions/changes.

Some question/comments:

- Now that SLES 10 SP3 and OES2 SP2 are out, should I just go ahead and use those? Seems easier than upgrading later. Need it to be stable though.

- How critical is time when adding OES to tree? Detailed suggestions during install? (please)

- Regarding moving folders in phases, that OK?

- New server will have 16gb RAM. 2gb swap OK? Or ???

- Once old NW 6.5 server decommissioned, OK for Windows clients to still use NW client?

thanks!

I've seen a couple of references in here for an updated vcsClient project - is it available or can someone point me to a download link?

Thank you,

email list

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 1:44pm
How can I get a list of all the email in a specific users mailbox.

If I run a search with just mail, sent, and received checked, it generates what I am looking for, but I can not save it or print it.

My reason, is that I want to move an account, and if some email has to get tossed, I would like to have a report of all the email in a box prior to the move and after the move.

Then I can show them specifically what didnt move over.

Or,

If anyone knows how to show what email didnt make over in a move, that would work too.

Boot Installation

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 24 November 2009 - 12:34pm
Hi - sorry if this is a dumb question:-

I've downloaded the NOWS SBE 2.5 ISO and unpacked it. I've burnt the unpacked files to DVD. I put the dvd into the server (it's got a clean hard drive in it) and I get the following error message
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device"

I've checked the boot sequence and the DVD is the first device?

does anybody have any solutions as to why it doesn't work.

Many thanks in advance
