My mail server (GW8) seems to become unresponsive every couple of days. I noticed it when my MTA stopped processing messages. I tried to SSH into the server, and it logged me in, but never gave me a prompt. I went to the console, and never got logged into the GUI. Had to hard boot the server. It did it again about 3 days later. Today my web access app crashed. I have a cron script running every two minutes to keep watch on that due to an known error (haven't applied SP1 and the fix for that yet). The logs show that cron stopped processing anything Saturday night sometime. I had left an SSH session open on my desktop and I was able to issue commands like rcgrpwise status to see that, but the start/stop commands did not work. Tried to run TOP and see if something was killing proc or mem. It never came up. I issued reboot. At the console it is trying to shutdown, but appears stuck at "Shutting down Novell small http interface daemon. I am about to hit the power on it again. Any insight is appreciated. Not even sure where to start looking.

This is the kind of stuff that made me nervous moving to Linux.

how can i easily install phpMyAdmin.

I already tried to download it manually.. but its not working properly.

is there a better way to do it so ?

There seems to be a maximum on the number of .fil files when an ZEN7 app is migrated. We have a number of very large apps with upto 16000 fil files.
They all fail to migrate, when I check the bundle it says the .fil files could not be found.

This causes the dbsrv10 to jump to 100% and to stay there forever it seems.
I have found many people with the issue of high utilization on bdsrv10 in this forum. But I couldn't find the solution.
When I stop the zenloader service dbsrv10 util drops to 1%, when I restart the loader, after 5 minutes the dbsrv10 jumps to 100% again.
In the loader log it says the fil files could not be found.

I have returned to a previous VMware snapshot not and skip all apps with more than 2000 fil files.

Is this really a limitation?

I am just starting up on NSL and wondered if anyone could help me with a sample script code showing how to make calls to external APIs from Novell Secure Login. A sample scenario could be as follows: NSL has to verify the biometric credentials of a user and for that it needs to call an API exposed by the biometric engine. How can this code be written? The biometric engine exposes web services for all operations.

Quick help would be really helpful.

I have following requirement to deploy...

Smartcard Authentication towards Acitve Directory and workstation logged already to the workstation as autoadminlogin user.

User should be logged into NSL after user inserts his/her smartcard...

I have already working setup from normal workstation user - Smartcard is inserted to GINA logons screen - and NSL credentials of user with Smartcard isloaded..

With kiosk workstation I have a problem that when workstation is logged in with autoadminuser - when nsl is started NSL credentials of autoadmin user are loaded.... is there any way to configure NSL7 client so that it does not use currently logged in users crentials ? When starting NSL it should ask for a smart card and PIN..

I am looking for a program or procedure to move a Workstation Object from the current OU... to an InActive.OU... with the help of a script.

Background. When the ZENworks 10 Agent is installed on a PC the old ZENworks 7 Workstation Object in eDir still exists. And the Helpdesk does not see that it has been migrated. And it makes it easier to find the workstation not yet migrated.

My idea is: When a user first time logs in into ZCM (after login in eDir) he starts a script or program that reads the FDN of the old eDir Workstation object and moves it to an InActive.OU.. SubContainer.

Of course the logged in eDirectory User needs appropriate rights to move the object.

I would like to keep the old Workstation object as reference for the old Inventory data, the assigned software packages and User history.

I was searching for a while but did not find a solution for it.

I just upgraded my SLES10SP2 64-bit server to SLES11. I just did a straight upgrade from DVD. Everything seemed to be going fine. I did the online update during the install and took all the updates, but after the reboot, the gui did not start and now I'm seeing segfaults in ld-2.9.so. I see messages like this in the syslog:

It seems like anyting that uses ld-2.9.so is segfaulting. I think that is part of glibc, right? This is the version of glibc currently installed:

glibc-2.9-13.3.1

I am installing a fresh SUSE Server and when I got to the stage of configuring a User, attempting to join an Active Directory Domain, after keying in the Credentials of the Authenticated user on the Windows Server Domain I got an error that read "unable to join Domain, Time Difference at Domain Controller"
Any ideas, I could use Local, LDAP, NIS but would prefer Windows Domain

Maybe this has been asked before, but it will be crucial to my school environment. Faronics themselves had some GREAT instructions for integrating Zenworks 7, and Deeepfreeze. You could chain a script and an apt so that an unfreeze script would run, unfreeze deepfreeze, istall the app, and then the script would refreeze the computer. Is there any way to do this with ZCM 10, and any instructions for it anywhere.

I installed GW 7.0.3 Client on Windows Server 2008 x64. Installation went through without errors or problems.
When I start GroupWise and enter my password I get:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information

Is there a way to run GroupWise 7 Client in this environment?

What exactly is stored in the DB?
How often is the DB written to?
Is there a paper that explains why the DB is needed exactly, and what it stores?

Any good links available? I'm having trouble finding data - maybe my search terms are not working well!

In relation to another question posted about HA.
If I can figure out how often the DB is used, I can decide how to provide redundancy across sites. If there isn't much data written, but more read, then there isn't too much of a problem for me.

Hi Everyone

According to the analyzer documentation, when I create a new matching profile I should be getting the following screen which will let me pick attributes to show in the matching results.

Unfortunately, in my case it just asks for a matching profile name, and then I get the attached screen Attachment 3709 which has no option to select attributes.

I'm running the latest version of analyzer, can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

After we install SLES10 SP3 32bit GM into Thurley platform(ICH10R AHCI mode),the system will hang during the first reboot after OS installation. And there is a blank screen and no output for this system.
However, this issue does NOT exist with SLES10 SP3 64bit GM and SLES10 SP3 32bit GMC.
More,this issue only exists under ICH10R AHCI mode.

I tried to do a new zone install of ZCM, which subsequently failed. Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to re-run the setup.sh file so that the installation program does not try to force an upgrade.

I'm looking for a way to improve the installation "experience" for a user when installing my Live@edu custom Driver.

The driver works only with the Remote Loader and I would like for the user to be able to select, when adding a driver using the Remote Loader Console, my driver from the drop down "Driver" list.

It would appear the RLC is scanning the directory for dll and jar files - presumably looking for a valid 'header'.

Any assistance/advice would be warmly received!
