Setupip fails if Windows Messaging is not present on Client

1 hour 4 min ago
Just upgraded to GW 2012 on OES11.

Setupip works fine for clientupdate (perv. version 8.02). Deploying Groupwiseclient on computes (win xp (sp3), win7 (32), win7 (64)) without older Groupwiseclient fails, if Windows Messaging is not installed.

On executing Setupip.exe (with administrator privileges) an error message appears: SetupIP is unable to copy Setup-Files. Contact Systemadministrator.

Setupip.err shows: HTTP-Error copying file setupip.fil. (110)

If i manually install wms.exe setupip works fine. How does wms affect downloading files by setupip.exe?

Anyone know this probelm?

Thanks

HTML mail with logo doubles the size of outbound mails

1 hour 30 min ago
Hi,

today one client had the issue as described in TID 3036647. As this TID refers to GW7 and we are running GW8 I was searching, if this issue has already been fixed or if there is workaround available. I have already searched the posts in the forum and the Knowledgebase, but I could not find the answer I was looking for.
The user wanted to send an HTML-Mail with an attachment (size 9,4 MB) and a signature with Logo to several recipients (8-10). There is a limit on the POA set for sending E-Mails at 20 MB, but the Transfer was denied as the E-Mail was shown to be at the size of 23,3 MB (Versions POA 8.0.2, Client 8.0.1).
Any help is appreciated.

IDM4.1 upgrade VRDIM error when starting drivers

2 hours 10 min ago
Hi,

I have been testing the IDM4 upgrade process in our lab, and have encountered problems.

We have an existing tree running IDM 3.6.1 on eDir 8.8.6.3

Our migration approach is:

- build a new server (SLES11)
- Install eDir 8.8.6
- Join this server to our tree
- sync the existing partitions to the new server
- sync our Driverset to the new server
- Install IDM4.1 & iManager on the new server
- Start the drivers on the new server
- Remove the old servers from the driverset & decomission

However, I am getting errors when it comes to trying to start the drivers on the new server:
novell.jclient.JCException: request -783 ERR_VRDIM_NOT_INITIALIZED

I have followed the advice givein in TID 7002449, but the fix for our specific error in NDSTRACE is to install the eDir 8.8.5 FTF4 patch. As we are running eDir 8.8.6 this is not possible, so not sure how to fix...

Has anyone else experienced this error?
Thanks

TrusteeDatabase.xml building failed

Hello everyone,
I have found strange issue, and have not found any solution.
We have 2-node cluster of Netware 6.5. One node have been uninstalled and replaced by OES2 linux (rolling cluster upgrade).
When I moved clustered volume into linux node, resinc of trustee rights begun, but is incomplete. I have no idea why it was interrupted.

Only admin can log into WebAccess

3 hours 49 min ago
I've just migrated a GW system from NetWare 6.5 to OES11/SLES11 SP1 and upgraded to GW2012.

As admin I can log into WebAccess 2012 (running on same server) but not as any other user. Cannot find any errors in the log files neither. Btw: DataSync is working fine using SOAP...

Server is using one IP address, 192.168.1.7 (where WebAccess, LDAP etc is running on), while the GW agents are on a secondary address 192.168.1.6. SOAP is set up with SSL, PO uses LDAP authentication also over SSL.

I've tried to disable SSL all over, set up basic authentication without LDAP etc. Still no go for others then admin :(

Deploying 3.6.1 Workflows to 4.0.1 User Application

4 hours 35 min ago
Hello,

I just finished upgrading RBPM3.6.1 to RBPM4.0.1a Advanced Edition. (Test Inv)

Well - Everything appears to be fine - but now i need to export Workflows (PRD's) from the 3.6.1UA to the new migrated 4.0.1UA.

I tried to export some PRD's from the 3.6.1 Designer and importing them from the Designer 4.0.1 - and when im trying to Deploy these PRD's from Designer 4.0.1 to my RBPM 4.0.1 - the Designer is keep 'thinking' forever..

There is any way to do this?

Thanks!

Application starting before NSL agent

4 hours 50 min ago
Hello,

Excuse me if the question was already posted but I do not find it ....

I have an application (from Checkpoint) using an agent which uses the network credentials.
The script is working fine but the agent is starting faster than the NSL agent.
So, the login windows is "staying" on the screen...

I am pretty sure there are different ways and maybe there is something from NSL but I did not find it yet ...
So, I am looking for some best practices or hint to manage this kind of situation .....

Thx for your help ...

4 hours 59 min ago
Hello,

i have some strange things with DLU-Policies an Server 2008 with ZCM Agent 11.1. The policy isn´t set if i assign it to a user or a group. The local user will not be created.
If i assign the same policy to da device everything is ok.
I tried Windows 7 to compare behaviours and with Windows 7 everything works fine.
Any Ideas?

GroupWise 2012 C3PO custom message callback not working

5 hours 26 min ago
Hello,

We have a C3PO implemented. This object adds toolbar buttons, add menu items and also implement custom messages.
It's working ok on GroupWise 7, GroupWise 8 clients. But on 2012 version it's working only partially. That is, menu items and
toolbar buttons are added and methods invoked without problems, but custom messages' function for open/delete/read do not work at all.
Our CommandFactory::WantCommand and CommandFactory::BuildCommand are not launched when I click on our messages.

Please help!

NAM - License

15 February 2012 - 11:58pm
Hi,

I have small query on the following statement in NAM installation document which says:

"Installing or Updating Security Patches for the SLES 11 Linux Access Gateway Appliance
To get the latest security updates for the SLES 11 Access Gateway Appliance, the user must register
with the Novell Customer Center by using the activation code obtained with the product:"

What is the activation code specified here and where can we get this activation code.

Do we require to buy a SLES license for the Access Gateway Appliance.
To my understanding Access Gateway Appliance installs a customized version of SLES and there is not need to buy a SLES license for this. NAM licensing should be enough for Access Gateway.

Please do let me know if my understanding is correct on this.

Thanks and Regards,

Sentinel - Pushing Event Source Log files to Sentinel

15 February 2012 - 11:54pm
Hi,

I have connected DB with Sentinel and logs are coming up.
I want to know if there is any way we can push the old log files which are existing prior to configuring DB with oracle.

Irrespective of the event sources, is there a generic way that we can push the older log files which are present prior to configuring with Sentinel, so that the customer can have the details and reports of the previous logs also.

Appreciate any help in this.

Thanks and Regards,
Sids

Caledonia migration, DMS Issues

15 February 2012 - 5:25pm
Hi All,

I've got a customer who has recently been moved from GW 7 on Netware to GW8 on OES2 Linux, during the migration we also moved their DMS libraries. We used the process outlined in the Caledonia Guide to Moving GroupWise, doing an initial copy then an incremental come migration weekend.
The process completed without reporting errors, however the AV was still running on the source server at the time of the first copy pass but was turned off before the incremental and document copy. Users are reporting issues with documents created/accessed/modified on the Thursday and Friday before migration, issues include incorrect documents being returned and documents missing. Seeing this is a production system users have since added more documents.
After the copy process, we had to rebuild the DMS database and perform an upper to lower case conversion on some of the database folders in order to see the document libraries. Once we had done this the libraries were visible ans we could access them. Also we found that even though we used the switch on the dbcopy to convert all to lower case, a small percentage remained upper case. Apparently this can happen in some instances from what I read in these forums and we had to utilise a case convert utility.

Interestingly the file system for DMS has both lib001a with files in it and lib001A with the correct file structure but no files (entire lib001A reports a 0 file size, lib001a is 3+ gb)

What are our options moving forward given that the system is up and has been in use for a couple of weeks?
- Are we able to run the DB copy again, or will this over write newer documents.
- Can we repeat the migration into a new document store, then manually move the effected documents over
- Run up a new groupwise instance and repeat the migration again then export documents and import into the production GW.
- Can we create a new library on the new GW environment and point it to the old DMS file location to bring over missing documents?

Thanks in advance
Adam

GW2012 and Gw8

15 February 2012 - 4:39pm
Current Gw8 set up for primary domain/location:
Linux: MTA/GWIA/WEBACCESS
Linux: Post office
Netware: Post office with remote storage areas

Would it be safe to deploy gw2k12 to the two linux boxes and continue to have my users access documents via the Gw8 post office on netware? (there are no users on this post office, just libraries)

Strange eDirectory password issue

15 February 2012 - 4:21pm
Hopefully this is the correct forum - if not, please point this wayward Admin to the desired specific location :)

We're running OES2 eDirectory version: eDirectory for Linux x86_64 v8.8 SP6 [DS] (taken from ndsstat on the Linux console)

We're having password issues with (1) user, which is actually my user object I use as admin, for testing purposes mainly. I do not require this object to change its password, and no expiration date is specified. However, nightly, somehow the password is either getting corrupted or reset, since I have to change the password in ConsoleOne. I can use the same password or specify a totally different one. After that, it will work fine until the next day. Any ideas on where I should start looking first?

Thanks

Applicaton launcher Empty

15 February 2012 - 1:42pm
We have been having some odd issues with the application launcher. Randomly, a user will log into a computer and the ZCM splash screen stays up for much longer that it should, and when the launcher eventually comes up, its missing all bundles. All thats there is an empty window. You can't even go the the menu on the launcher and log in directly to zenworks. All of the menu options are blank and you have to restart the computer repeatedly to get it to work right. Usually 3-5 restarts take care of it. After that it might work for a few days or a few weeks, but the problem shows up sporadically on any computer.

One really weird thing that seems to help is to have a user log off when it happens. Then instead of restarting, they blank out the username, and retype in their username and password. If they do that, it almost always works that next time. But, its still not a reliable fix.

Has anyone else seen this issue or have any insight into what might be happening?

We are using Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 and zenworks 10.3.3 and also had the issue with 10.3.1 before we upgraded.

Server Dropping Intermittently and then coming right back

15 February 2012 - 1:21pm
Our master file server has been having this issue for a while now. It will intermittently drop throughout the day. You can't copy large files from the server due these cutouts. Yesterday I updated the firmware for the storage controller and the network card as recommend by others, but it hasn't changed anything. Some days are worse than others. When it drops, you can't access the volumes, Imanager, or anything. If you try accessing it a few more times, then it will come back up and you can get in to your files fine until the next drop. Another issue we are having is that our Windows 7 machines are having a hard time mapping to this drive. We usually have to get to the desktop and then try logging in a few times before it maps. Even after it is mapped, it seems to drop a lot more often with the Windows 7 machines. When it is down, it shows NCFSD below the drive. The other file servers never drop out on a Win7 machine.

The master file server that is having the trouble is a HP Proliant DL380 G6. The other servers that are configured the same way are also HP Proliant boxes but not sure which model exactly except that they are older than the G6. They don't seem to have any issues with cutting out or being mapped on Windows 7 machines. Each server is SLES 10 OES2 SP3.

I'm very new to managing Edirectory. Is there logs on the server somewhere that may help explain what is causing this issue?
