SMTP/MIME problem

13 February 2012 - 12:54am
I have a project where I have a secure gateway going into my mail stream. I have GWIA running, and need to change the Relay Host for Outbound Messages.

When I go to look at the properties of GWIA in ConsoleOne, I get the message that GWIA admin could not locate file 'exepath.cfg'.

I have verified that the file does exist, and that GWIA.cfg does have the path to exepath.cfg.

I'm really needing to get some help, and anything would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

SMTP Issue

16 January 2012 - 8:41am
Hi,

My Smartphone users are able to connect via IMAP to my Groupwise 7 post office. They can download their email messages. They can not send any messages from their devices. SMTP is unable to connect.
I can see in the GWIA and PO logs where they connect via IMAP. I do not see or know where to look to see if they are connecting via SMTP.
I usually get unable to connect to SMTP server when trying to connect them. The best result I ever got was that the username and/or password was not correct. The username and password are correct.
I have checked my DNS records and my CNAME was pointing incorrectly. I have corrected this, but can not connect. It now points to my public ip. GWIA said it was expecting an particular A record, which I have now created.
My firewall is set to receive SMTP traffic from specific IP addresses only. This is for my email delivery from a scanning service. My outbound services are not limited.
Sending and receiving from Smartphones has worked in the past.

Thanks for the help.

Not reviving external E-Mail

13 January 2012 - 3:38am
We have a problem where we do not receive external e-mail and I will need to clarify, the email comes to our firewall which then checks for spam etc and then forwards to our group wise server. I can see messages hitting that server and forwarding the ones it is suppose to, I can then see those messages show up in the receive folder on the group wise server, these messages then disappear and never go to the user box. Sending and receiving internal email is fine, sending external is fine with the exception if you look at sent items every one that are sent to external email show a status of pending. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Quick edit, We found over 7000 messages in E:\grpwise\dom\MSHSDOM\MSLOCAL\MSHOLD\JBP7B40\4 and it looks like the messages are being transferred here. We are unsure why

POP3 and IMAP problem for one user

12 January 2012 - 2:30am
Hi All,

One of my users has recently connected her iPhone4 to our GW7. We set her up just like numerous other of our users, and she is having some issues. When set up as IMAP using the default application on her iPhone, she can see all her folders and all her mail up to December 21, 2011, but nothing after that. If she asks to download more messages, it successfully shows earlier messages, but still nothing more recent than December. When set up as POP, she is able to download recent messages, but there are wide gaps in what she can see. Whole days are missing. I can send her a new message, and she can POP it right away, but messages that came in just hours before will not come over. None of our other users have any such issues--including at least one with the same iPhone.

The user swears that she has no other e-mail program POPing mail--and even if she did, I don't think it would explain the IMAP issue--but I may be wrong about that. This user does have an incredibly large online mail account--over 20,000 messages in her Mailbox folder alone. I have examined her POA indexes, and they show nothing un-indexed.

I have used my own phone (Droid Bionic) to connect to her GWise account and I see the same behavior from her account.

We are using GWIA 7.0.2, and I can see her phone making connections successfully. I see no errors, but I have not yet studied a Verbose display when she connects.

Any suggestions about how to proceed to troubleshoot this?

What could I do if I wanted to reset whatever information her account stores as to what messages have been POP'ed off or to reset whatever info about IMAP is maintained?

Thanks in advance,
Peter.

DSNHold

Can someone clear up how the files in the dsnhold folder are processed ? I can see them sitting there but not sure what they're waiting for ! found a link to one of tay kratzers books on GW6.5 (we have 7.03) and it says they will be retained for 4 days if the GWIA doesn't receive delivery status notification from the POA, so how do i know if the POA is sending this. i've never heard, and can't see, anything in the poa or post office settings which suggest i can interfere with that process. theres only a few messages in there so the 4 day clean up is obviously working but i can't see any status messages actually being sent

cheers
