I've just finished a three week 'enablement tour' across some of Europe with Laurence Pitt.

We focussed on getting our vision and information about ZENworks Orchestration Server and ZENworks Configuration Management to our top partners.

The two of us visited London, Edinburgh, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt and Stuttgart.

Top prizes to the Novell Nordic team - who managed to fill the Danish Design Center, in the heart of beautiful Copenhagen, with over forty Platinum partners from Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

One of the unique features of ZENworks Asset Management is the fingerprinting to accurately identify software and applications on a workstation.

The Product Recognition Update database - PRU - is updated monthly.

Here is the background:

Go beyond scanning hard drives. A sophisticated recognition engine drives the inventory capabilities of Novell ZENworks® Asset Management. This technology goes far beyond simply scanning hard drives and displaying a list of raw executable files. Instead, an advanced auto-discovery process carefully analyzes the software on your hard drives and checks against an extensive application knowledgebase to accurately identify all the software running on your systems.

This approach eliminates missing or misspelled header information common to other inventory approaches and distinguishes between real applications and other types of executable files. Built and maintained by Novell Technology Analysts, the Knowledgebase also contains product-by-product pointers that allow the engine to make fine distinctions between trial- and full-version software and between different editions of the same product.

The patented recognition technology embedded in ZENworks Asset Management has a long, proven record of success on more than 10 million desktops.

ZENworks Linux Management has won many awards. Originally it won 'Best of Show' at LinuxWorld and Expo when it was Ximian Red Carpet Enterprise; then ZENworks 7 Linux Management won the same award later that year.

Now the latest version of the product - ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management - has won at Interop in Las Vegas.

Good to see that it's not just customers who recognise the power of managing Linux machines with ZENworks!

All organisations see people move on and new blood appear. Novell is no exception.
