Helping IBM Accelerate Its Customers Time to Value
It sure is nice to have customers who are happy with your product. But even nicer is hearing from your customers that their customers are happy too. Recently I had a chance to chat with Jim Lawrie, Product Manager and Aman Lalla, Software Development Analyst in IBM’s Information Management group. I learned that by delivering the Smart Analytics System in a new format as part of the SUSE Appliance Program, IBM customers are able to get business insights and make smart decisions with technology that is easy to implement out of the box.

Every time you turnaround, someone is talking about "the cloud" and its power. Analyst firms are forecasting billions of dollars being spent on cloud computing and pundits are predicting the cloud will redefine the current standards for computing. But do most people really know what any of that means? More importantly, do they know specifically how to maximize the cloud for profit.

Building a Community with SUSE Gallery from Novell
This summer Novell officially launched SUSE Gallery, an online showcase designed to share and promote software built with SUSE Studio. The first thing visitors notice is that anyone can share an appliance that they made with SUSE Studio. This is a good strategy for Novell to take, as at it makes the development process very inclusive -- even for people just tinkering with SUSE Studio.

Moose, Matadors, and Wildebeests: the OS Gets Rebranded
As a marketer, I tend to focus on people's creativity in building and branding the appliances. Earlier this week, we officially launched SUSE Gallery - an online venue within SUSE Studio that allows users to build and publish their appliances. Once published, the appliance is available for end users to view and download.

Linux virtually everywhere
These are heady times in the Linux world, with Linux at the center of how organizations are evolving and even transforming their computing infrastructures and ecosystems. Looking at recent developments, I’m struck by three observations.
First, Linux is everywhere – and has established itself as the perfect virtual guest. Second, the ecosystem surrounding Linux keeps growing in size and strength every day. Third, Linux is driving the path to the cloud.
Click here to learn more about these observations and how Novell's approach to Intelligent Workload Management fits in.

Talking Heads in the Cloud
Four weeks have passed since the Salt Lake City leg of the BrainShare tour and I'm finally sitting down to reflect on our shared experiences with our SUSE Appliance Program ISV partners.... The Pavilion was also the base camp of our official Dister (http://www.twitvid.com/55D45) mascot who was seen walking the floor handing out goodies and stopping for photo ops.

SaaS Providers and Cloud Security: Should You Build or Buy?
Organizations that purchase SaaS products want these solutions to provide audit tracking, single sign-on, and provisioning capabilities. More than half of these organizations would also be more inclined to purchase a particular SaaS solution if it allowed them to use their existing identity management system.
That’s what Novell discovered when they recently conducted a survey of 1,000 large to very large enterprises in the US & Canada as well as 83 qualified SaaS providers. They also discovered, however, that SaaS providers are divided on how best to meet the needs of these clients.
