Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you move towards the final stage of securing your customer.

The great thing about working with small businesses is the lack of formality that is so prevalent with larger enterprises. After all, you're not expected to turn up to the customer site in a three-piece suit, and the last time you had to wear a tie was to your nephew's wedding.

After you've figured out their core needs in terms of network, email applications, hardware and budget, you should also ask what existing applications they are using.

In my last post, I wrote about listening to your customer to get an idea of how they feel about technology, as this will provide you with a good starting point in designing a solution. The next part of the conversation you'll need to have is directly related to the technology and the business.
