Work/life balance?

I was wondering how unusual you think it is to be working in your own time, at the weekend? I guess I've done it ever since I became a network administrator: you know what it's like, you're not allowed downtime during the week, so evenings and weekends are the only time you can get changes done. Now that my network has only one user (me) I don't need to worry about when changes are done (I work from home, and although my wife has her office at home also, she has her own separate broadband connection, sensible woman!) but I still can't get out of the habit of working weekends.

Good times, they are a-coming

Last week, I spent a very interesting time, training on a new product that Novell will be selling and supporting. I'd really like to tell you more about it, because it has features that I (and many of you) have been asking for, for quite some time. Unfortunately, I can't - the official announcement is still a few weeks away, and I rather like my job :)

All I can say is that in my opinion, it compliments ZENworks rather nicely...

ZEN on DVD

If, for example, ZEN7 came on 2 DVDs instead of lots of CDs, is there anyone out there today who’d be unable to install it? It’s something that’s being considered…

Who is Shaun Pond?

It’s a fair enough question, and one I often ask myself…

I work in WorldWide Support, looking after ZENworks - much of my job involves acting as backline support for the SysOps in the Support Forums http://support.novell.com/forums - I was a SysOp for many years myself prior to this, and am older than dirt: I installed my first NetWare server about 20 years ago!

Some ZPM automation

Aren’t the people in the forums great? I got this tip from someone in the Patch Management forum about automating how you add workstations to groups - they got it from Patchlink, but heck, I’ll take anything that helps our customers! I’ve written a TID, so look out for Automating the addition of workstations to ZENworks Patch Management Groups
