Not that I ever do this ;) but if you think about the process to download a movie. To do it for free, I first have to find the files from a torrent tracking portal. Then I have to know how to use a download client. Next I have to check the file is what I want, as well as scan it for any malware. If I’ve done all this correctly I can watch my movie, and even then with my luck the quality is probably terrible. My wife on the other hand actually values her time, so she uses Netflix. All she does is browse their catalog and have the movie stream in near real time; they even have HD!

I was talking with a co-worker the other day and we were chatting about Novell Operations Center, specifically Experience Manager (previously known as Business Experience Manager - BEM). We then remembered a story he told me a long time ago that I thought would be interesting to share.

Today Novell released the second update to the ActiveSync Mobility solution for GroupWise. Check out the details on new features and bug fixes.

Our objective to create a single Virtual Machine that runs Novell Service Desk so that we can explore the capabilities of this new solution from Novell. To do this we will

a) Create a new VM using SLES JeOS
b) Upload Sun Java and Novell Service Desk installer into the VM
c) Perform the installation and start Novell Service Desk
d) Load a browser and give it the URL for Novell Service Desk

What a fast year it has been and what a crazy last couple of weeks for us on the Business Service Management team at Novell. Wednesday was launch day for us and a very exciting time! A time to reflect as well as I spoke to many in the press this week always being asked just what this Business Service Management technology is, what do companies need, how does it differ from the competition, what is your longevity secret sauce and what makes it different than all the rest with this WorkloadIQ approach. I found this intriguing and a very exciting time for the technology in the days of mixed physical, virtual and cloud environments.
