Multiple flavors aren't just for ice cream anymore

A multi platform datacenter is no longer an exception and in fact has become quite normal. There was a time long ago and far away when most datacenters were pretty homogeneous. All of the “stuff” residing there typically came from one vendor. This made things pretty easy to manage. One set of instructions to learn, one phone number to call if anything went wrong, et cetera. The problem was that this “stuff” also carried a massive price tag and was called a mainframe...

PlateSpin Protect/Forge Training in Novell On-demand

The product team wanted content that went deeper, technically, than the content we had previously released on the Protect product. In order to help us accomplish that objective, they gave us a lot of their time and wrote a lot of the content themselves.

Catch the mist, catch the myth, catch the mystery, catch the drift...

I’m sure everyone has at one point or another heard the metaphor of having to sharpen your saw, which implies the importance of continually updating your skills. It’s amazing to me when I hear stories like this of someone who is already a master still see the need to go out and sharpen his saw...

Novell Operations Center 5.0 - The Eagle has Landed!

All development cycles/projects have code names until such a time a version number can be assigned to the release. This release was code named Eagle and thus the title! I must first say it has been a fast and furious year for the Novell Operations Center team filled with much change. Many thanks go out to the supporting cast of characters that delivered the product this year. The product has a fresh, clean look, a new name, improved quality and usability and many enhacements. As part of the updated brand a couple of integrations that are already available have never been called out on their own.

A Sneak Peek at Some PlateSpin Protect Training

We've got some new PlateSpin Protect training coming just around the corner. I mentioned not too long ago that this course was in development. Well now it's in the final stages of operations . . . I'm talking about "Workload Management Administration with PlateSpin Protect," Course 8017. By the end of this month, you'll be able to buy this course for self-study or sign up to take the class at a Novell Training Partner.

Why am I writing about the coming of this course 2 weeks in advance? Why am I not waiting until it's shipping before I start making noise about it? Because I've got something to show you.

Using Endpoint Security Management in ZCM 11 -- Online Training from Novell

As a network administrator, have you ever pondered how nice your job would be if it weren't for those pesky users in your network? I'm sure many administrators and engineers have dreamed, at least now and then, about how smoothly they could have their networks running if there were no users to mess things up.

A network without users, a school without students, or a hospital without patients ...

Training Direct from Novell ~ for Sentinel Log Manager 1.1 and Access Manager 3.1

Until now, my posts have been exclusively about training deliverables that come from my team of course developers. But we're not the only game in town when it comes to delivering training on Novell products. Far from it. In addition to my team, which develops the courses that are delivered by training partners, we have two other teams of folks who not only develop but also expertly deliver training via Novell Online.

We have a couple Novell Online courses that I'd like to highlight here:
