As Jim Zemblin of the Linux Foundation noted, this year’s Computex has been good for Linux. A lot of that goodness has centered on Moblin.

Novell, working closely with Intel, was the first Linux vendor to publicly support Moblin. We’ve also taken a lead in developing Moblin-based devices by establishing the Novell Open Labs with the Taiwan Moblin Enabling Center (MEC), a joint effort of Intel and the Taiwan Institute for Information Industry.

This week at Computex we also announced that we’ve worked with Acer and MSI, two leading netbook manufacturers, to create demonstration devices running Moblin. This is an important first step in bringing Moblin-based netbooks and nettops to market. Stay tuned.
