Novell is co-sponsoring, along with IBM and Mainsoft, the Race to Linux 2.0, a challenge to Visual Studio developers to explore .NET 2.0-to-Linux porting options. Developers will be given an application at the start of the race. There are prizes for the first developer to deliver the application running successfully on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on an IBM System x. There are other prizes for the first correct entry that uses Mono technology from the Novell-led open source Mono project. More than 100 developers have registered to date.

So, the guantlet is thrown down. More information on the race is available here.
