Open Enterprise Server 11 is now live!

Currently, Novell doesn't support an in-place upgrade from NetWare to OES. This has prevented some customers from upgrading to OES.

To address this shortcoming, Novell Consulting is investigating a procedure that allows customers to perform an in-place upgrade when certain prerequisites are met.

This question has come up many times lately on the support forums. So I figured I'd write a little guide on how to migrate your NetWare SLPDA to OES2 OpenSLP.

This is my migration guide for GroupWise 8.x (will work for GroupWise 7.0.3 as well). It covers migrating from GroupWise on NetWare with NSS volumes to OES2 SP1/SP2 using NSS volumes. In conjunction the migration is suited for a Transfer ID scenario and only covers the Domain/PO migrations. This is just one of many ways to migrate GroupWise from NetWare to OES2.

This is my updated guide for OES2 SP2 that should get you up and running a basic OES2 SP2 system fairly quickly. I've updated some pre-reqs and caveats that should more clearly prevent issues with NSS/EVMS and other install gotchas that people have come across.
