In-Place Upgrade NetWare to Open Enterprise Server

Currently, Novell doesn't support an in-place upgrade from NetWare to OES. This has prevented some customers from upgrading to OES.

To address this shortcoming, Novell Consulting is investigating a procedure that allows customers to perform an in-place upgrade when certain prerequisites are met.

GroupWise Migration from NetWare to OES2 SP2 with Transfer ID

This is my migration guide for GroupWise 8.x (will work for GroupWise 7.0.3 as well). It covers migrating from GroupWise on NetWare with NSS volumes to OES2 SP1/SP2 using NSS volumes. In conjunction the migration is suited for a Transfer ID scenario and only covers the Domain/PO migrations. This is just one of many ways to migrate GroupWise from NetWare to OES2.

Migrating from NetWare to OES2 SP1 Linux in XEN VM

One of the nice things about OES2 SP1 Linux is the fact that it runs quite nicely as a para-virtualized VM in XEN. However, one thing we noticed after migrating an NSS volume from NetWare to the OES2 XEN VM was that disk performance was terrible. Here's a solution.

Configuring NetStorage on Novell Cluster Services using OES2 SP1 Linux, with Third-Party External Certificates

So you have a bunch of OES2 SP1 Linux nodes running in a cluster. You have followed the documentation in the NetStorage for Linux Administration Guide to setup, install and configure NetStorage to run in your cluster. All is working well, except your users get that nasty warning in their browser, every time they connect, because your NetStorage is using the default untrusted self-signed server certificates.

Wouldn't life be just great if we could get NetStorage to use a third-party minted one from a reputable trusted Certificate Authority.

Well, you can, here's how.
