If you're a PlateSpin Protect or PlateSpin Forge customer you're going to want to take a look at Course 8017, recently made available for purchase as an elearning deliverable in Novell On-demand. This course, titled Workload Management Administration with PlateSpin Protect, is a very strong piece of training. My team received unprecedented contributions from the PlateSpin product team in the development of the content in this course.
The product team wanted content that went deeper, technically, than the content we had previously released on the Protect product. In order to help us accomplish that objective, they gave us a lot of their time and wrote a lot of the content themselves. The result is a course that not only covers how to install and configure the PlateSpin Protect server, but also goes into the following:
- What you need to do to Implement the Forge Appliance
- The tasks associated with Protecting a Workload
- The steps for Testing and Recovering Workloads in Protect and Forge
- The tools and processes used to Support Protect and Forge (including how to troubleshoot common problems).
With this much deep coverage of the product, it's just an all-around great course.
You can review a more complete description of what's covered in 8017 at http://bit.ly/i1uLng. By the way, when you go to this link you'll see that you have the option to subscribe to this course in Novell On-demand for only $199. This gives you a full year of access to this great content.
If you want to see a sample of what the content looks like in On-demand, we've published 7 demos from the installation and configuration section on YouTube. Just go to http://www.youtube.com/novelllearning and do a search for PlateSpin.

Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).
It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.
