I'm embarrassed to find that I haven't made a customer visit in more than one year. Spending time at customer sites is invaluable in helping us to develop products, programs and materials that are useful to existing and prospective customers. Walking through your department, watching the activity levels, getting a sense of your job-related pains and successes. That kind of input makes a huge impact in the life of a product marketer. BrainShare is a great place for me to get to talk to many of you, but those hallway conversations only tell part of the story.
So I'm looking for a ride-along. Spending a day in your life. Auditing your worksteams like a college kid interested in the subject matter, but not willing to risk a grade. That means helping you change printer cartridges, leaning over your shoulder while you change user information (I'll respect your personal space, don't worry), seeing you juggle all the things admins do, whatever. I'll bring donuts for your department and spring for lunch.
I've decided to go straight to the source, instead of going through the sales team. Let me know if any of you can host me for a day. You can comment below or email me at email@example.com. I hope to hear from you soon.
