ZENworks 11 Configuration Management ships with an OEM edition of BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 platform as part of ZENworks Reporting Server. While the platform provides an easy and customizable means of creating great reports, you may feel a bit overwhelmed by looking at the elaborate options and flexibility the tool provides in the user interface. This article will help you get over some of those apprehensions and try some simple steps the tool provides.

If you log into ZENworks Control Center (ZCC) and go to the reports tab you will find along with the link to access ZENworks Reporting Server (ZRS), there are many predefined reports that provide you detailed views of the inventory data your ZENworks zone has. These reports are typically referred to as WebConsole reports. In this download and set of subsequent downloads, you will find some of the reports have been recreated in ZRS. As you can see here almost all the predefined reports in the WebConsole can be created in ZRS with various charts and visualizations with ease.

The Last Scan History report presents a concise summary of when devices in your inventory were last scanned. The report is built around a best practice of weekly inventory scans, and breaks a week down day-by-day. Devices with more aged inventory are grouped at 30-day breaks.

The Software Collection Members Report provides a listing of collections defined for your inventory, the number of installed instances for each member of each collection, and the number of installed instances for each member that shows usage.

The Windows 7 System Readiness Report provides a means for comparing the hardware specifications for devices in your inventory to the hardware requirements Microsoft recommends for Windows 7. The user may specify a set of hardware parameters against which the overall report will be filtered.

Once you have created and tested your ZRS report, follow these steps to export your report in preparation for uploading it to the ZRS community site.
