Joining a NUI Group

The NUI Group roster is currently being rebuilt. As of 1 November 2007, NUI has undergone some organizational changes. This means that the old NUI Affiliation agreements are no longer valid, and NUI Presidents must sign a new Novell Affiliation agreement. Once that happens, we'll be able to list the newly re-affiliated chapter on this roster.

Check back often to see the roster grow.

How to Join an online Group

  1. Login with your Novell Login. (Click the login link in the header.)
  2. Click Groups in the My Links section on the right side of the page.
  3. Find your group on the master list of all the groups on the site.
  4. Click the Subscribe link next to your group.
  5. Fill out the request field, and click the Subscribe button.
  6. Your request will be sent to the chapter President, and he or she will accept your request.

That makes you a member of your online NUI Group. (This gives you online access only. Your Chapter may have other requirements for you to join the physical group that meets in your local area. Once you're in the online group, you can ask the friendly folks in your Chapter about physical meeting info.) To visit your group any time and see what's been posted in there:

  1. Login with your Novell Login. (Click the login link in the header.)
  2. Click Groups in the My Links section on the right side of the page.
  3. Click the My Groups tab and click on your group.

As a member of the group, you can post content in this section. Follow these instructions.

New organization

It would have been apt if the information about the change had been sent out in advance.

If this means better support to the local Groups it´s OK!

Joining a group

I agree with John Strickland, I can't tell how to join a group. There is no "Groups" link or a "My links" section as the instructions suggest. This is VERY frustrating.

Should be working now.

Very sorry about that. We had a glitch in the display settings that wasn't showing the My Links block to everyone. It should be fixed now.

Creating / Applying for a new group

Submitted by rmicabalo on 18 November 2007 - 11:57pm.

Hi,

Pardon if this is the wrong section to ask this question.

I've noticed in the groups list that there is no Novell and/or SuSE user group for the Philippines. How do we apply or create the group in NUI? What are the terms?

I'd be interested to have the group for the Philippines since SuSE adoption in the Philippines is growing.

Thanks and best regards!

Romar

Creating a NUI Group

Hi Romar,

It's easy to create a new NUI chapter. You can start small and build from there. All the info about how to start a chapter is in this article.

We've got a lot of experienced NUI presidents in this community, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
