Check out this new utility by Hamish Speirs designed to solve a problem with NetWare virtual machines and multiple processors. A nice little side discovery is that the product can be used on all NetWare servers, both physical and virtual, with multiple processors to conserve energy.
vmBoost monitors the utilization of the CPUs in the system, and when the sliding average utilization passes administrator defined levels, CPUs are either brought online or shutdown. In addition, those additional CPUs can be put into a lower power draw idle state when running, reducing energy draw on physical CPUs, and avoiding the 100% utilization issue of virtual CPUs
