On February 9h, Novell and The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) announced a global partnership that encourages open source adoption and provides Novell an opportunity to introduce a Linux-trained and certified audience to the benefits of SUSE Linux Enterprise.
Under the terms of the agreement, Novell will grant all qualified LPIC-1 holders the opportunity to acquire Novell Certified Linux Administrator (CLA) certification without additional exams or fees. Thousands of LPI Certified individuals will immediately be eligible for the CLA . Future candidates considering whether to pursue either the vendor-neutral LPI certification or Novell's CLA will be able to follow the LPI study path and and obtain both certifications. In addition, Novell Technical Training has formally agreed to include required LPIC-1 learning objectives in its CLA course training material.
Both companies are excited about this renewed partnership and its potential for further global promotion of both certifications. “This agreement is a first in the technical certification industry, greatly increasing our reach into the Open Source Community.” - MaryJo Swenson, Vice President Novell Technical Training.
