Forcing Printers to Users after iPrint Migration
During the iPrint migration, all of the drivers are migrated, the existing printers are renamed adding _NW to the end of the names, and the new iPrint Printers are created. The users assigned to the old printers are assigned to the new printers as well, but there is a caveat. That only allows the users to install the printers from the web page at http://serveraddress/ipp. It does not force install the printers for the users. Here is how you can work around this.

Migration from NetWare 6.5 SP7 to SLES10SP2-OES2SP1 Hiccup
After doing a pre-migration of a Volume from NetWare 6.5 SP7 to SLES10-SP2 w/ OES2-SP1 all of the file structures appeared to be correct. We did this "Pre-migration" in order to copy the bulk of our user files prior to doing a final sync and pointing to the new volume on the new server. But after the sync, we found that some of the source files and the destination files had the EXACT same size, creation date, and modified date, but the content was different. Here is how it went down.

When a company considers virtualizing some part of its infrastructure what is really wanted to be virtualized? The entire machine? The OS? Software within the OS? What other features are needed? These are some questions I would like to hack out with others so come join in the foray.
