proxy ARPsearch for term

A technique by which a router replies to an Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) request from a host on behalf of the ARP target host. By faking its identity, the router accepts responsibility for routing packets to the real destination. This allows a site to use a single IP network address for two physical networks. A stub network (stub subnetwork) is a common use of proxy ARP.
