An enhancement to the TCP/IP Routing Information Protocol (RIP) that includes the subnetwork mask in its routes. RIP II can be used in network topologies requiring variable-length subnetwork masks, and it is able to support subnetwork 0. RIP II can also authenticate routing message exchanges. Not all RIP routers support RIP II.
