Serial Line Internet ProtocolAn Internet protocol used to run IP over serial lines, such as telephone circuits or RS-232 cables, to interconnect two systems. SLIP allows users to use dial-up connections as Internet connections. Internet SLIP is being replaced by the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). Also called Serial Line IP.
