Novell released the latest and final support pack today for Novell GroupWise 7. It is Novell GroupWise 7.0.4 and it is available for immediate download.
GroupWise 7.0.4 is a compilation of all Hot Patches and Field Test Files since Novell released GroupWise 7.0.3. GroupWise 7.0.3 was released in early 2008 and since then customers have been able to download Hot Patches, updates and changes through regular support channels and their Novell Technical Services representative
You can download 7.0.4 here.
Here is the readme.
You must log in and have a maintenance contract to access the 7.0.4 download. The change log is part of the download and provides a summary of all of the changes that were made.
Since the last Hot Patch, 7.0.3 HP5, there have been roughly 45 additional software changes. These code fixes were all driven by customer reported issues and add to the overall stability of the product. The majority of the changes were concentrated on the agent components of the product. Many of these fixes have already been made available to customers through field test files and have proven trustworthy in production environments.
In coordination with releasing 7.0.4, Novell is also announcing the transition of the GroupWise 7 product line from General Support to Extended Support on April 2, 2010. This will be the last support pack issued for GroupWise 7.
Additional information on the GroupWise 7 product lifecycle is available here.
.
We encourage any GroupWise 7 customers to upgrade to GroupWise 8 as soon as possible. GroupWise 8 is a mature product that offers productivity-enhancing features like a web-enabled Home View, cross-boundary calendaring, enhanced contact management and auto-save for messages in progress.
A new support pack, Novell GroupWise 8 SP2, is also scheduled to ship later this year. This support pack will include a number of new features designed to enhance integration with Novell Teaming and the upcoming Novell Conferencing.
Here are some resources you can use to help your upgrade decision.

We encourage all of our customers to take advantage of all of the additional benefits of upgrading to GroupWise 8. A majority of our current customer base has already upgraded!
GroupWise 8 includes additional features that your end-users have been requesting. In addition, GroupWise 8 supports more server operating system platforms, browsers and desktop platforms. GroupWise 8 will be a requirement for the Novell DataSynchronizer Mobility Connector that will provide support for all ActiveSync enabled devices -including the iPhone.
The Mobility Connector has begun its Novell internal rollout in preparation for authorized BETA. Authorized BETA is currently scheduled for April.
GroupWise 8 SP2 is still on schedule to be available mid-year. A new release of GroupWise, code named Ascot, is being planned for later this year/beginning of next year. Further details will be available at BrainShare Salt Lake City next week.
Hope to see you all at BrainShare!

Ascot? What happened to Windermere?
Submitted by ecyoung on 18 March 2010 - 10:38am.
I'm really afraid to ask, but what's Ascot? What happened to Windermere? For those of us not lucky enough to be approved for out-of-state travel to Brainshare, can we get an updated GroupWise roadmap?
Thank you.

Windermere is still part of our roadmap. Ascot provides us a release vehicle for several often requested features, integration components with Novell Teaming and Novell Conferencing and an option to ship product more often.
Although not exactly, putting a release between now and Windermere essentially allows us to deliver half of the planned features sooner. Windermere is still currently planned for about the same time frame as we have been communicating all along. It will include the 'other' half or allow us to adjust feature sets as the industry expands and collaboration broadens.
We will be publishing an updated roadmap for all of the Collaboration Business Unit products within the next several weeks. I will blog about that when it is made available. These products include OES, Novell File Management Suite, GroupWise, Teaming, Conferencing, DataSynchronizer and Pulse.
'Even' those people who can't come to BrainShare will be give access :)

As many of you know...our GroupWise Product Manager is Alex Evans. Alex is one of those English accented chaps from across the pond. As he is in charge of code names, he is choosing locations in the UK. He claims that Ascot is some city, village or otherwise inhabited local. Windermere is some large body of water over there as well. If it was up to me, we would be choosing places from Montana!! Yea baby!!
Let's see.....Bear Tooth or Butte or Sleeping Giant or Anaconda or Red Lodge or simply Yellowstone. I guess Unabomber could also work :)
Maybe we should have a code name 'naming' contest....hmmmm I am a little worried about what some of those gurus on the NGWList might come up with!!

but Ascot wasn't mentioned...

In the Collaboration Product Roadmap Review at Brainshare, Ken and Daves slides went straight from GroupWise 8.0.2 to Windermere, with no mention of Ascot. Was this intentional or a slip-up?

Sorry you missed it! I was in that same session and they (Ken/Dave) had two slides that spoke directly to Ascot and the features that we have planned.
I will be blogging specifically about Ascot in the coming weeks.

Slideshare vs BS Session Catalog
Submitted by ecyoung on 31 March 2010 - 2:28pm.
Dean, I think the problem may be that the slides that were posted to Slideshare do not match up with the slides from the BrainShare session catalog. How confusing! I wonder who decided that the slides would be out-of-sync like that.
