We need to talk about your TPS reports
My wife is a high school math teacher. She has a really hard time understanding what it is that I do for a living; Most of the time I simply tell her that I’m a businessman. Sometimes she tries to take the time to understand my job a little bit better. Those days are when we watch Office Space.
There’s a character, Tom, in that movie who describes his job as "taking the specifications form the customers and bringing them to the engineers". That, I feel is the main responsibility I have at Novell. I’ve been working in the virtualization industry for a few years now. I’ve helped several customers with server consolidation and disaster recovery projects in both sales and technical capacities. I even remember VMware before they became part of EMC, which really isn’t that long ago. But at the end of the day, what I know and the experience I have is not nearly as important as what you, our users, are doing today, and want to be able to do tomorrow with our products.
On that note, I’d love to hear from all of you in our user community, to find out what you’d like to see in our products. I know what we do well, what I’d like to learn more about is how we can be better. Feel free to post comments or even send me email directly. Of course, and specifications you send me will be given to the engineers. After all… I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people!!!!
