Identifying owners of pu*.db.

When you run a gwcheck on your system, you're likely to come across "users" with a "pu" prefix, like these:

pu080101.db ( / 0) 0 ( 0) 0 1 72704 ( [])
pu090101.db ( / 0) 0 ( 0) 0 1 72704 ( [])
pu0a0101.db ( / 0) 22 ( 22) 0 5 562176 ( [])
pu0b0101.db ( / 0) 20 ( 20) 0 5 358400 ( [])
pu0c0101.db ( / 0) 30 ( 39) 0 5 301056 ( [])
pu0d0101.db ( / 0) 0 ( 0) 0 1 72704 ( [])
pu0e0101.db ( / 0) 0 ( 0) 0 1 72704 ( [])

These are databases for Shared Folders/Address books from user's that have shared with others in a different PO.

Here's a TID that explains further about these databases, and how to generate a report to identify who "originated" these folders.

After you've generated this report with the standalone version of GWCheck

... here's a tool (GWPUDBInfo.exe) that will parse the resulting log file into a more readable comma-delimited file, like this:

pu020101,Bryan Keadle
pu030101,Bulletin Board
pu060101,Help Request

Additionally, if you're using my GWAttachmentStats program:
http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/14448.html
which lets you generate reports on mailbox usage and attachment sizes, you can use this file to enable GWAttachmentStats to translate these (P)rimary(U)ser databases to their originating owner.

For you convenience, included in the download package is a GWCheck options file template to get you started. Simply:

  1. Run GWCheck.exe
  2. Selected the provided options file template
  3. change the path to the post office and the po name (and optionally the log file name and attachment sizes parameter) and select Run

See the GWAttachmentStats page for more detail.
