Blog Entry
A while back, Jon Strickland wrote a Cool Solutions article on how to enable RSS feed updates to notify you via your instant messenger client.
If you have an RSS feed, such as a blog or podcast, that you regularly monitor for changes, this is kind of a cool tip to check out.

GWMessenger is supposed to be IN HOUSE ONLY!!!!
The MAJOR value of GWMessenger is that users Cannot do stupidity like this!
Stop the insanity. SO MANY Companies have simply banned Yahoo, AIM, ICQ and the rest and told employees the would be FIRED if any of these things were found on their computers.

Erm, I don't think GW

Erm, I don't think GW Messenger was mentioned anywhere in that article. In fact it states "It currently supports AIM, ICQ, Jabber, MSN, and Google Talk" - no GW Messenger.

Alex: Although flyingGuy
Submitted by Ted Haeger (not verified) on 31 October 2006 - 8:09pm.
Alex:
Although flyingGuy states his point a bit tersely, he's right. GWIM is not an Internet messenging service. Even if they had made it GWIM-capable, there's really no way to provide your GWIM ID to a service like this. And, since no sane sysadmin would blindly trust outside entities, the admin would be hell. So, it's no surprise that GroupWise, Workplace, and other enterprise IM systems are not supported.

P.S. I wonder how the reply nesting order got messed up on this.

Hi Ted - I don't think it's messed up, I was replying to flyingGuy's misunderstanding that this coolsolution was aimed at GW Messenger. Unless I misunderstood his reply in the first place :)

Yeah I may have been loud and in TA it didn't say GWMessenger, but I could just *hear* the wheels turning somewhere to the tune of, "Ohh that would be coooool".

Alex: Looks like I goofed on
Submitted by Ted Haeger (not verified) on 2 November 2006 - 1:44pm.
Alex: Looks like I goofed on that. I thought flyingGuy was correcting you Alex. Appears that he was actually thinking that I was suggesting this service for GWIM...but I wasn't.
Alex is correct, flyingGuy. I think you assumed something way beyond what I was saying. You cannot even use that service with GWIM.
