Customizing a Landing Page

The ability to customize landing pages is one of Teaming's most creative and dynamic features. You use this ability to make your company's, team's, and personal landing pages stand out, and to give them a more aesthetically pleasing appeal and a greater level of functionality.

New Features

When you open the new graphical landing page editor, one of the first things you notice is a list of features that you can hide or show with a simple click of the mouse. Featured below are two new options that help you diversify your landing page.

Show "My Favorites" and "My Teams" Links

This option allows you to hide the masthead and still keep the Sign Out, Favorites, My Teams, Print, Help, and Home Workspace links at the top right of the landing page.

Show Navigation Breadcrumbs

This option allows you to hide the masthead and still keep the tree view of the Teaming hierarchy, which gives you easy access to other parts of your Teaming site.

After choosing which features of Teaming you would want show or hide, you see the new and improved interface for editing landing pages.

New Interface

Below is an image of the new user interface. Click it to view the image in a larger window.

Notice the new palette of features that you can add to your landing page. The Teaming engineers have made some incredible improvements to the interface that make it simple to create a useful and creative landing page.

The new improvements to the landing page include the following:

Drag and Drop
To add a feature to your landing page, all you need to do is simply select the feature located in the palette on the left and drag it onto the canvas to the right of the screen. This functionality is not only simple, but also very intuitive if this is your first time using the landing page editor.

Location IndicatorThe new location indicator allows you to see exactly where you are placing a feature on your landing page. This is very handy when you are creating tables with multiple entry areas, or when you are adding multiple features to your landing page.

Editing and DeletingThe landing page edit and delete buttons appear at the top right of every item that you drag and drop from the palette onto the canvas. This allows you to easily edit a feature by clicking the image of a pencil, or to completely delete the feature by clicking the X. It's important to remember that if you delete a table, it deletes everything within that table.

Examples

This first example shows internal landing page in Novell. As you can see, landing pages can be a powerful tool. This page required a little custom work, but it is a great example of what is possible with the Teaming landing page editor.

We will be interviewing with the group that created this landing page in Teaming so we can publish an article about the steps that the group used to create this landing page.

The Kablink Community is an example of a landing page that is very functional and aesthetically pleasing. This landing page is not as specialized as the first example, but it is another great example of what you can create by using the Teaming landing page editor.

This third example is a simple landing page that we created. It took very little time, and shows that you can keep your landing page simple, and still utilizes important landing page features.

We hope you are excited about the new landing page editor. Long-time Teaming users will appreciate the features that make creating a landing page quicker and more convenient. If you have never created a landing page, you will find that the new landing page editor is not only intuitive, but also easy to manage.
