- SAA search for term
-
Systems Application ArchitectureAn application architecture used to develop applications for the IBM System Network Architecture (SNA) environment. Through Common User Access (CUA) architecture guidelines, Common Programming Interface (CPI) definitions, and Common Communications Support (CCS) protocols and conventions, SAA provides a basic structure for developing applications that are consistent across systems, including microcomputers, minicomputers, and mainframes.
- salvage system search for term
-
A well-defined process used to recover "deleted" files. Rather than immediately freeing the disk blocks for a deleted file, Novell Storage Services (NSS) marks the name as deleted. Only when the space of the deleted file is needed is the file actually purged from the system. By using zMODE_DELETED to augment the source name space on zRename, you can recover deleted files.

-
1. Service Advertising Protocol: A protocol used by NetWare Loadable Modules (NLMs) to inform clients of a server's presence. Servers advertise their services, by both name and type, with Service Advertising Protocol (SAP), allowing routers to create and maintain a database of current internetwork server information. This information goes to all nodes on an IPX network.2. service access point: A virtual port on a data link adapter. A SAP provides communication points between adjacent local area network (LAN) protocol layers. A SAP is referred to by a three-digit hexadecimal number.3. secondary audio program.

- SBD Partition search for term
-
Split-brain Detector PartitionThe SBD Partition is a small space (usually 15MB or less) on a SAN where each node writes a packet to let others know it's "alive." If a node does not write its "I'm alive" packet within a configurable time, known as the heartbeat, then the node with the Master IP address will ping that node. If the node does not respond, the Master IP address node will send the "failed node" a "poison pill" packet, which tells the failed node to ABEND.

- scatter gather search for term
-
A feature of many disk drivers that improves the performance of disk reads and writes by combining many small I/O requests into one. If data is to be written to sequential locations on disk, the driver "gathers" the data from different locations in RAM and combines the data into one write. If data is to be read from sequential locations on disk, the driver executes one read and then "scatters" the data to different locations in RAM.

-
An instance in time that is arbitrarily selected as a point of reference for the Novell Directory Services (NDS) database. When a schema epoch is declared, the master replica of the [Root] partition is contacted and illegal time stamps on the schema record are repaired. SIF is not a product, but rather an industry-supported technical blueprint for K-12 software. For additional information about SIF, see the Schools Interoperability Framework Web site at http://www.sifinfo.org/. - scoped path search for term
-
An XPath specification that provides an easy way to access data from your Web applications. exteNd Director includes a group of predefined scoped paths that are available from the Page Flow and Workflow Modelers and through the scoped path API.Scoped paths combine the concepts of application scope and physical location. Application scope refers to the state of the data, or data persistence. Data is nonpersistent if it is available to a single user for a single session. Data is persistent if it is available to one or more users over multiple sessions, and potentially to external applications. A scope also defines what application objects can access data. For example, exteNd Director defines a Flow scoped path that is accessible to any object in a given PageFlow or Workflow.A path is the physical location of the data. exteNd Director defines a path syntax for a set of predefined scoped paths. This syntax is based on XPath and includes support for XPath expressions and functions.
