1. (verb) To hold data in a temporary storage area, such as in RAM. The data can be accessed more quickly from RAM than from the hard disk.2. (noun) A quickly accessible area of RAM or a directory or a disk that stores frequently used information.3. (noun) On the Web, refers to the area where the browser stores downloaded graphics on the user's computer. That way, when the user has to reload the graphics, the browser retrieves it from the computer faster than ite would reloading the graphics from the Internet.
