VAP search for term: value-added processAn application that runs on top of the network operating system. VAPs tie in with the network operating system so that print servers, archive servers, and database servers can provide services without interfering with the network's normal operation. VAPs run on top of the operating system in much the same way a word processing or spreadsheet application runs on top of DOS. NLM programs provide this type of enhancement for NetWare.
