There are plenty of file system trustee backup mechanisms for both NetWare and OES2 Linux, but they all hurt my brain. Sure, XML is great and who doesn't love Linux but I wanted a simple Windows app that could read the trustees from a volume hosted by either NetWare or OES2 Linux, would store the results in a human readable and modifiable format, and which I could use to restore said trustees to a volume hosted by either NetWare or OES2 Linux. This is the app I came up with.

Virtualization is a popular technology these days (rightly so) and is a perfect fit for a test environment where you wish to be able to quickly recover to a known point and potentially spawn additional copies of your test environment. I decided to investigate my options for performing a NetWare Physical to Virtual (P2V) conversion and this article describes the process I ended up using to migrate some Physical NetWare servers to a Virtual test platform.
Here's part 2 of Kevin Hurni's series on OES2 SP1 Install and Migration. In this article, Kevin shows you how to use the Migration Utility.
Scott Owen shows you how to set up FreeNAS as a NetWare backup to disk solution.
