eDirectorysearch for term

A distributed, replicated naming service that maintains information about and provides access to a list of objects that represent network resources, such as network users, servers, printers, print queues, and applications. The directory is physically stored as a set of database files on a server. If the server hosts file system volumes, these files are on volume sys:. If no volumes are present, the directory is stored on the server's local disk. eDirectory tightly integrates Novell Security Services for e-commerce (PKI, cryptography, and authentication services), allowing developers to build applications that can be accessed and managed across the entire network through explicit policies. For more info, see the eDirectory product page.
