A WII cost me a WII

I thought I would relate to you all my tale of woe regarding the Nintendo WII.  Since it was released in November last year I have wanted one - I told my wife it would be great for the family and we could play it together - stupidly she agreed.  So I have been diligently saving up Best Buy vouchers and, since January, I have had enough to cover the cost of a WII.  The problem is that WIIs are harder to come by than, well, something very hard to come by.  My local Best Buys are probably sick of me turning up and saying 'Got any WIIs?' - the answer is always the same - No, and we have no idea when they are coming in.

So Thursday last week, after work, I had to meet my wife before her yoga class, so I could pick up our son and take him home.  Perfect time to go to Best Buy and check out the WII situation.  Problem was, I really needed to 'go'.  So, I had to hang around at the yoga place until the instructor turned up and unlocked.

15 minutes later, all relieved I arrived at Best Buy and headed over to the WII display - where I find the last WII in the hands of another customer.  Aarrgh!  And that is how a WII cost me a WII.

Now if any of you out there have a WII I do NOT want to hear how cool they are - I want to sit here and wallow in my abject misery.

Alex (who is right now headed to Best Buy hoping for another Thursday WII delivery)

Just keep trying, its absolutely worth your efforts to get it. Me and my wife play wii sports almost every day and its a lot of fun. The only problem is that she beats me in tennis and im not very happy about that :)

Yes keep trying. Yesterday I decided to call some other stores and found one at Gamestop. I tried to ask them to hold it. They said no, so jumped in my truck and got there as quick as I could. I got one. Was talking to the guy and he was surprised he still had one. He said they get 9 in at a time. Normally they are all gone in 10 minutes. Good luck

We just picked up a DS this weekend. She got a couple of the brain games and I got New Super Mario Brothers. It's old school reborn. All I need is a final fantasy game for it and I'm set!

And no, still no Wii. My mother in law is visiting from England very shortly so I HAVE to have one before then - otherwise I am going to be subjected to 3 weeks of Mother-in-Law-Friendly TV shows. All Wii donations kindly accepted.

Sorry, no donations here. But I do have a funny non Wii item to mention. I finally realized why your name seemed familiar. You helped me with a webaccess 6.5 on an NDS 8.85 network that got back lined a year ago. The best part was, I have a tendency to listen to my voicemail on speaker phone and a coworker overheard it and loved your voice so much, I actually forwarded the voice mail to her so she could play it back to her hearts content!

Oh yeah - I remember that

Oh yeah - I remember that incident. You had to upgrade the version of eDir on a linux box if I remember correctly. And yes, the beauties of having an accent in the US - you can be short, fat, balding, wear glasses and work in IT and you can still get an ego massage. But you still can't get a Wii

Having seen how much fun they were at BrainShare, I too succumbed: they're no easier to get in the UK, but we are more organised http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk/#wii_consoles
