Good news everyone. A new version of Teaming is available in public beta.

This is what our marketing department has to say

The open beta of Novell Teaming 2 is now available! With Novell Teaming, you get innovative team collaboration and enterprise social networking capabilities—differentiated by a focus on interoperability and a TCO that doesn't break the bank.

This product is also an ideal solution for creating, acting on and preserving all the ideas and content teams can generate in support of your organization's success. With powerful search tools that help users find relevant resources and experts, Web 2.0 collaboration capabilities that closely model the organic and interactive flow of work, and secure workspaces that provide a permanent place to store your collective intelligence, Novell Teaming brings you a people-driven competitive edge.

And if you're a Novell GroupWise customer, you have every reason to check out Novell Teaming 2. With several points of integration between this robust team collaboration solution and Novell GroupWise 8, you'll benefit from the products individually--as well as from the synergies between the two.

WHAT'S NEW IN NOVELL TEAMING 2?

> New and improved user interface
> Faster downloads (and no Liferay portal dependency)
> Relevance Dashboard that lets users quickly find what's new and what experts in their areas of interest are doing
> Enhanced social networking with micro-blogs
> Brandable corporate and team workspaces
> Customizable team landing pages (to replace portals and internal Web sites)
> Workflow enhancements including support for external application call-outs, status histories and user-driven design processes
> Support for guest users

The product also includes enhancements to benefit administrators, including multi-tenant servers, indexing server failover, mirror folder improvements, multi-LDAP search queries and a built-in mail server.

WHERE CAN YOU LEARN MORE?

You can experience the benefits of Novell Teaming 2 firsthand--starting today! Just visit http://www.novell.com/beta to access the open beta code. The product includes five tutorial videos to help you get started. Additional information about Novell Teaming 2 can be found in the following locations:

> Novell Teaming 2 Beta Installation Quickstart Demo: http://www.novell.com/media/media.php?media=novell...

What does that mean for GroupWise customers? As we take these products forwards you will see a lot more close interaction between all of the products - GroupWise, Teaming, Conferencing and GW Instant Messenger. I will fill out the details in a future blog as we nail down the details and the release vehicles - but I can say that we have an exciting roadmap planned. This Teaming release is just one more step on our way to that point, and is the platform for a number of those planned integrations.

Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).

It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.

Sharepoint Comparison

Submitted by desousa on 24 July 2009 - 12:04pm.

Would you happen to have a MS Sharepoint comparison and if so could you share that with us?

Looking at both pricing and full functionality.

Thanks,
Paul
