Blog Entry
In my personal blog at http://gwbliss.blogspot.com I have been discussing the reports in the media about Gartner and others reporting that Windows is collapsing under its own weight. You can read the report from ZDNET here:

This may be wishful thinking on many people's part, but if it is true, what opportunities does this present for Novell?
First, why is it collapsing? Too many resources are being focused on supporting the product rather than supporting the customer.
A perfect example of what is happening can be seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Disruptivetechn...
The features and functionality of the product have far exceeded the needs and abilities of the end users to take advantage of them. The product has become too expensive, too burdensome, and too big.
Novell's opportunity lies in exploiting these three issues. They need to create an alternative that is easier to use, drastically less expensive, and much smaller.
If they don't do it, someone else will, and steal away the fleeing customers from the crumbling Microsoft empire.

Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).
It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.
