The last NetWare version has been in production since 2008 and has exhibited continued high reliability since its introduction. Now Novell has ceded to popular demand and will support NetWare 6.5 until March 2012, and assist with self-support until March 2015.
In the past all vendors have supported a physical server environment for old NetWare 6.5 implementations. Today, however, NetWare 6.5 on any hypervisor.
SEP Software's suite of products fully supports all novell applications; from OES, Vibe on Demand, eDirectory, iFolder (FiLr) to cluster running NetWare 6.5 and everything Novell.
Many NetWare 6.5 resellers, as a general rule, delivered a physical server solution with a single tape drive, in some cases autoloaders, to enable the backup and recovery processes. The earlier hardware configurations often used backup tools, for example Symantec's BackupExec, but in today's virtual environment these solutions will no longer work because the agent for the Novell TSA does not exist.
If you are already using SEP sesam in a physical hardware configuration you already have a solution for new virtual environment for NetWare 6.5. Moving your NetWare 6.5 backup solution to SEP sesam will ensure that all of your critical data is available whenever you need it.
