Changing iManager 2.7 Default Timeout

Problem

If you regularly use iManager, the default timeout of 30 minutes probably annoys the heck out of you as much as it does me.

The TID 10090339 at:
http://www.novell.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId= 10090339&sliceId=&dialogID=48644641&stateId=0%200%2048650369

tells you how to do it for iManager 1.5, 2.5, 2.6, and iManager Mobile for 2.6 as well. However, the location for 2.7 is slightly different (mostly because they now use Tomcat5 instead of Tomcat4).

Solution

The file to edit on Linux (as per the TID, the syntax is still the same) is:

/var/opt/novell/tomcat5/webapps/nps/WEB-INF/web.xml

Otherwise, it is much the same. For Mobile iManager 2.7 the path is:

<installed-path>/imanager/tomcat/conf/web.xml

Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).

It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.

The link to TID 10090339 in this article is no longer valid. The TID number is now 7009560 and can be accessed here.

Ok, I give up on trying to link. Go to http://support.novell.com and search for 7009560. That will direct you to the latest version of the TID.
