IBM recently announced their newest mainframe, the IBM System z10 Business Class (z10 BC) offering. In a market where green computing, consolidation and virtualization are on the forefront of every CIO's agenda, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z combined with the IBM z10 BC represents a solid alternative to x86 and/or other distributed platforms.

Depending on the workload, a client can consolidate a large number of x86 servers onto a single entry level System z server with one Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL). Security, reliability and total cost of ownership on the System z platform is unmatched in the industry.

There is just one issue—the cost of acquisition for some customers may, at first, prevent them from considering System z as an option. To address this issue, Novell and IBM have just made the total cost of acquisition for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z on the IBM z10 BC much more affordable.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z is being offered at reduced subscription pricing for new IFL's on the IBM z10 BC. In addition to reduced subscription pricing, customers also qualify to receive a FREE SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Self Study Kit per registered customer (a USD $1095 retail value).

IBM's newly–announced price reduction for the IFL on the IBM z10 BC makes the total cost of acquisition for the mainframe much more attractive. In the highly competitive IT market, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z allows customers to consolidate distributed workloads onto System z servers to help lower energy costs, reduce downtime and data center complexity, and increase flexibility.

SKU's for this promotion will officially be available from Novell on November 9th. If you have immediate customer opportunities for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z with IBM z10 BC, please work with your local Novell business contact.

Below are links to marketing tools you can use today to make your customers aware of the reduced pricing on the IBM z10 BC.
