Blog Entry
Novell today released an update to GroupWise 8. This Hot Patch for 8.0.1 addresses many important issues reported by our customers and prioritized by our support organization. Changes were made in every component of the product. We recommend following 'Best Practices' in updating and rolling out this update.
Please review the readme for a complete list of changes and defects that were fixed. Included in this list is a Microsoft security vulnerability that required updated components from Microsoft that are now included in this Hot Patch and were previously included in the 7.0.3 HP4 deliverable.
Here is the statement released to our customers, partners and sales organization.
"Microsoft has reported a security issue in their development Microsoft Active Template Library (ATL).
Microsoft has requested developers using ATL to evaluate their use of any ATL controls or components and to take immediate action to evaluate a possible vulnerability.
For further information please see Microsoft Security Advisory (973882)
Resolution
Novell has thoroughly evaluated the use of ATL controls and components and have implemented Microsoft's fixes into the Windows Client of GroupWise 7.0.3 Hot Patch 4 and the Windows Client of GroupWise 8.0.1 Hot Patch 1. No other GroupWise components are vulnerable."

Re: GroupWise 8.0.2 BETA?

We are not planning on having a BETA for 8.0.2. Our current schedule is to ship 8.0.2 in June. It will have a few new features - but mostly we will continue to focus on stability issues driven through our support organization. 8.0.2 will contain all of the fixes of 8.0.1 HP and currently there are about 200 other identified changes that we are planning on resolving. In addition, the other dependency on 8.0.2 will be Novell DataSynchronizer. Our new Mobility Connector will more than likely require some changes in the the 8.0.2 POA in order for full functionality.
We are currently working on 7.0.4 - we plan to release in late March and then onto 8.0.2. In addition, we will soon have an alpha and then BETA of the Mobility Connector. Cortez is about to ship (Teaming 2.1) - in February.
We plan to demo all of these things at BrainShare - Salt Lake City and later at BrainShare Europe.
Let me know if you have further questions.

We've just updated a POA and I'm not convinced it's applied properly. The build number is still showing as 88138 and dated as 23rd November. Admittedly it used to be dated as August. Any ideas what the build number for 8.01 HP1 should be?

Linux HP???
Submitted by wwetherington on 9 February 2010 - 8:21am.
Any specific reason why the Linux version of Groupwise 8.0.1 HP1 doesn't show up when you search through the Download site?
I have only been able to find it by digging and using the following link: http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=kzUdYd...

Re: Linux HP
Submitted by dlythgoe on 9 February 2010 - 4:14pm.
The real issue here is that with the changes implemented for maintenance support, you need to login to see these other patches.
Security patches do not require a login and can be accessed by all. However, non-security patches require you to login and authenticate and then you will see the patches that you are entitled to. Only some of the downloads in HP are deemed 'security' and therefore available to all, while other downloads in the HP - the Linux pieces did not have a security update and therefore require you to login.
I hope that makes sense.
