Purpose: Graphical tool use to manage the EAS auditing framework in IDM 4. The main purpose of this tool is to troubleshoot auditing issues, create content filters, and verify auditing events.

ESM Packaging
The ESM console utility comes packaged in a tar file, console.zip. After downloading the zip, to unpackage it into a directory called esm_eas, execute the following:

unzip console.zip

Running ESM
You will need java in your environment to be able to run the esm utility successfully.

Linux
cd esm_eas
./esm.sh

Windows
cd esm_eas
esm.bat

When you execute either the esm.sh or esm.bat script, you will be prompted for the hostname or IP address of the EAS server to connect to. This will then launch ESM, and you will then be prompted for the admin credentials, which for EAS should be admin and the password that was configured for the dbauser at EAS installation time.

Capabilities of ESM
Live view of the Collectors, connectors configuration for the EAS instance.
Apply filters to collectors.

AttachmentSize
console.zip40.34 MB

Bat File Problem Executing in Windows

Submitted by jgdasilva on 30 November 2010 - 4:37pm.

The JDK in my setup was in program files, the space in the folder name was causing the esm.bat script not to execute. I had to make the following changes in the file.

Change:
IF NOT (%ESM_JAVA_HOME%)==() GOTO ASSIGN_JAVA_EXEC
to
IF NOT ("%ESM_JAVA_HOME%")==() GOTO ASSIGN_JAVA_EXEC

Change
%_TMP% > nul 2>&1
to
"%_TMP%" > nul 2>&1

note the quotes
