VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols.
The installer code can be found here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
1. Take "Before snapshot"
2. Install VLC using the installer code
3. Run VLC player and untick "Check for Updates"
4. Close VLC player
5. Now clean up any extraneous info in the virtual registry and file system. Look for hives and folders not relating to VLC Player.
I've included the XAPPL for reference. This is a simple app to get working, so following the steps above should be all you need to do.
