Blog Entry
Every training and testing conference I've been to in the last year or more has had folks present on how to use social media to promote a business. Facebook is always top of the list. Now, I've been using Facebook for personal purposes for years now. It's a great way to stay in touch with friends and family and to catch up with friends I haven't seen in years.
But I couldn't imagine how my organization, Novell Training Services, could use Facebook to promote what we're doing. All I can say is, it's a good thing there are people in this organization who have better imaginations than I have.
Just this week, Novell Training Services launched a new Facebook page. This is part of an even larger effort to use social media to give our customers information about new training and certification opportunities.
You'll find the Novell Training Services Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/NovellTraining. Please visit our page and Like it. Post comments and let us know what you think and what you'd like to see on this page.
I guess Twitter will be the next social media tool we tackle.
Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).
It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.

Facebook for grownups

I personally prefer Twitter. It is simpler to access and distribute information in bite sized chunks. I'm not really interested in looking at photographs or polls with those I'm not actively social with. For now, perhaps synchronize the Facebook status updates with a Twitter feed?

Thanks for the feedback. I believe that they just synced Facebook to Twitter on Friday. Look for novell_training on Twitter.
