Problem Statement:
OES2SP2/SP3 is supported on SLES10SP3 and not supported on SLES10SP4. If SLES10SP4 Bundles are applied on OES2 servers via ZEN11, the bundle installation will go through without any warning messages, which may break the OES2 Services and presently Novell does not support SLES10SP4 as platform for OES2. To avoid this please follow the steps provided below to block the SLES10SP4 Bundles flowing onto OES2 Servers.
System Environment:
SLES10SP2/SP3 with OES2SP2/SP3 devices.
Steps:
After mirroring the SLES10SP4 Online / Pool / Updates bundles, do the following changes to mirrored bundles.
- Log into ZCC.
- Click the Bundles option in the left pane.
- Now, browse through the appropriate folder and select the appropriate bundle (SLES10-SP4-Online, SLES10-SP4-Pool & SLES10-SP4-Updates).
- Go to the Requirements tab, add two filer sets & 3 filter per set. The following are the filters and the appropriate values which are to be set.
Filter 1
- Linux Distribution = SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 - i586
- Linux Service Pack <= 3
- File Exists - /etc/novell-release – No
Filter 2
- Linux Distribution = SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 - x86_64
- Linux Service Pack <= 3
- File Exists - /etc/novell-release – No
Note: To set the above filters, refer the screenshot of the filter settings at the end of the document. - Apply the changes and publish the new version of bundles.
- Assign the newer version of the bundles to the devices.
- Refresh the devices & deploy them.
Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).
It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.
