When a directory object assigned as a post-master for a messaging server is deleted each of the affected messaging servers are converted to unknown directory objects. This tool can be used to assign another directory user as the messaging server's post-master user. Additionally, the tool will restore the messaging server's directory object as a Novell NetMail messaging server.

This tool is compatible with all versions of the Novell Internet Messaging System and all versions of Novell NetMail except Novell NetMail XE.

The tool may be hosted on either the affected messaging server itself; or from a host with TCP/IP connectivity to the messaging server. The tool requires that a directory object, and password, with administration rights to the message server be specified, as well as, the directory object to be assigned as the new post master. The tool can be executed on a remote host by providing an IPv4 dotted internet address, domain name or internal IPX network number using the '--address:' command line option.
