If you are an Open Enterprise Server customer, there is a good chance you are using Novell Cluster Services (NCS). You may be using it to keep your planned downtime to an absolute minimum. This is done by allowing services to seamlessly and automatically move to another server, should a server go down. On the other hand, maybe you are using NCS to move services to another server, while doing planned maintenance on a piece of server hardware. Whatever the case, Novell Cluster services keeps your Data Center running smoothly.

Many have also taken NCS to the next level by implementing Business Continuity Clustering ( BCC). With BCC ( built on NCS technology ), you have an Active-Active cluster, where a cluster is replicated at an off-site location. In this scenerio, if your whole data center were to go down ( think flood, tsunami, earthquake, etc...) your business can run uninterrupted by having your data center services seamlessly mount at the offsite location. This can all happen within less than 5 minutes, and virtually zero data loss.

As the Product Manager of these solutions, I am reaching out to each of you for your feedback and a chance to influence the roadmap. Please join in taking a short survey and be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon Gift Card.

The survey can be taken here - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/novellclusterservices

Disclaimer: As with everything else at Cool Solutions, this content is definitely not supported by Novell (so don't even think of calling Support if you try something and it blows up).

It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.
