ZENworks and Windows 8
Windows 8 is the current release of the Windows operating system, produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, tablets. It was released for general availability on 26 October 2012.
The Novell ZENworks family of products will support Windows 8 as follows:
- Basic Windows 8 capability will hit the market with version 11.2.3 (Feb 2013). This means that for existing hardware, all of the ZENworks capabilities that currently exist will work.
- Support for newer hardware that supports UEFI/SecureBoot and GPT will be delivered in a phased approach between version 11.2.4 and version 11.2.5.
- Additional Windows 8 specific management capabilities will be delivered in version 11.3.
Note: This is specific to x86 Windows 8. There are no current plans to support Windows RT as a managed device in ZENworks Configuration Management.
