A Forum reader recently asked:
"I keep getting the error message that no instances for the eDirectory Server are configured. What can I do to solve this problem?"

Do you have a "/etc/opt/novell/eDirectory/conf/.edir/instances.0" file? It should be created by the ndsmanage/ndsconfig process. However, basically this file contains a line corresponding to the conf. file for each of the instances, like this:
aszechy-linuxtest:/etc/opt/novell/eDirectory/conf/.edir # cat instances.0
You can re-create and use this file if necessary ...
