Problem

A Forum reader recently asked:

"I am running iChain in a test environment on my Linux laptop's VMware environment, and I have been attempting to administer it through Firefox. The fonts end up so large that the UI is unusable. I have Crossover installed, so I tried IE - but it doesn't have Java, so that's not an option. Does anyone know how to control the fonts inside an embedded Java app in Firefox?"

And here's the response from Klaus Gast ...

Solution

I am running the iChain GUI from using Firefox on Linux. Here's what you need to do:

1. Download and install the latest sun java jre (jre-6u2-linux-i586-rpm.bin)

2. Configure Firefox to make use of the new java plugin by replacing the symbolic link:

"cp -s -i /usr/java/jre1.6.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so/usr/lib/browser-plugins/"

3. Restart Firefox and check with the "url: about:config" to see if the plug-in has been referenced.

It's still not perfect, but it works OK for me.
