Wondering which logs and files can be examined for troubleshooting ZCM 10 Managed agent deployment? Want to know how to read the contents of PreAgentPkg_AgentComplete? Here's the scoop, from the good folks in Novell Technical Support.
For the PreAgent service, look on the system drive (for example: \windows\novell\zenworks\bin) for these files:
- ZENPreAgent.InstallErr
- ZENPreAgent.InstallLog
- ZENPreAgent.InstallState
- cmdline.txt (The command line executed when the managed agent package was launched)
Once the PreAgent service is installed, all logging goes to the system application event log.
The deployment package downloaded from a particular server will contain that server's connection information (ip/dns/ports) so that a managed device can call back to that server. There are several ways that you can interrogate the package.
- PreAgentPkg_AgentComplete -l (to get a listing of the package contents and any commands that are executed)
- PreAgentPkg_AgentComplete -n -d <somedirectory> (the contents of the package will be extracted to the specified directory)
For additional info, see this TID.

It was contributed by a community member and is published "as is." It seems to have worked for at least one person, and might work for you. But please be sure to test, test, test before you do anything drastic with it.
